Ultra Tint - Full Terms & Conditions

Professional window film supply and installation terms for residential, commercial and specialist architectural glass applications.

Important: These terms form part of every Ultra Tint quotation, proposal, invoice, booking and installation unless otherwise agreed in writing. Acceptance may occur by written approval, electronic approval, payment of deposit, or allowing work to proceed.

1. Scope of Work

Unless stated otherwise, our quotation includes the supply and installation of window film to the glass areas listed in the proposal. It does not include glass replacement, glazing repairs, frame repairs, silicone replacement, painting, builder works, access equipment, electrical works, cleaning of surrounding frames beyond normal installation preparation, or removal of unrelated obstructions. Measurements, glass counts and site notes are based on what was visible and accessible at the time of inspection.

2. Quote Validity and Pricing

Quotes remain valid for the period shown on the proposal. After expiry, pricing may be revised due to changes in film cost, freight, access requirements, supplier availability or project scope. Pricing is based on the nominated product, installation area, access conditions and agreed scope only.

3. Deposits, Booking and Payment

A deposit may be required to secure the booking, order material or allocate installation time. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the balance is due on completion of installation. Warranty documentation may be withheld until the account is paid in full. Payments made by selected credit cards may incur merchant processing charges where applicable.

4. Variations and Additional Costs

Ultra Tint may adjust the quoted price where site conditions differ from those reasonably expected, or where additional work is requested or required. This may include restricted access, poor frame condition, removal of old film, unusual glass, excessive contamination, furniture removal, scaffolding, work outside normal hours, waiting time, or any condition that increases labour, material or risk. Variations will be discussed before proceeding wherever practical.

5. Site Access and Readiness

The client must provide safe, clear and reasonable access to all glass to be filmed. Furniture, blinds, curtains, equipment, valuables, pets, children and other obstructions should be moved before our arrival. If access is unsafe, restricted or unprepared, we may reschedule the work or charge for additional labour, waiting time or return visits.

6. Product Recommendation and Final Selection

Ultra Tint provides recommendations based on experience, manufacturer information, glass type, orientation, performance requirements and risk assessment. Final product selection remains the client's decision unless a specific compliance requirement applies. If our recommendation is declined, the client accepts responsibility for reduced performance, appearance differences or additional risk arising from that decision.

7. Glass Condition, Thermal Stress and Breakage Risk

All glass carries an inherent risk of failure. Window film can alter heat absorption and glass temperature, particularly on tinted glass, laminated glass, double glazed units, large panes, shaded glass, damaged edges, old frames, low quality glazing, skylights and unusual glass configurations. Ultra Tint is not responsible for glass breakage, seal failure or glass defects caused or contributed to by pre-existing conditions, thermal stress, manufacturing defects, poor glazing, structural movement, environmental conditions, damaged edges, frame issues or factors outside our control.

8. Glass Audits and Suitability Checks

Where risk indicators are present, Ultra Tint may recommend or require additional glass assessment before installation. Any assessment is based on visible and available information only and does not guarantee that glass is free from hidden defects or future failure. If the client chooses to proceed after being advised of risk, the client accepts that risk.

9. Toughened Glass, Scratching and Surface Defects

Toughened glass may have surface pick-up or manufacturing deposits that are difficult or impossible to identify before cleaning or film removal. Scraping, cleaning or removing old film from these surfaces can reveal or cause scratching due to the condition of the glass surface.

Ultra Tint will take reasonable care, but is not responsible for scratches or finish issues arising from toughened glass pick-up, existing contamination, prior damage, or old film removal where the defect is inherent in the glass.

10. Installation Finish and Visual Standards

Applied window film is not expected to have the same visual quality as untreated glass. Installed film is assessed under normal industry viewing conditions, generally from at least 2 metres, at right angles to the glass, in natural daylight and not in direct sunlight. Minor dust particles, fibres, edge contamination, small blemishes, optical distortion, light lines, edge gaps, water haze during curing, and minor installation marks may be acceptable where they are not obtrusive under normal viewing conditions.

11. Edge Gaps, Joins and Splices

Film is normally installed with a small edge gap to allow water removal and to reduce edge lifting. Typical edge gaps may vary depending on film type, frame condition and installation method. Larger panes may require joins or splices where the glass exceeds available roll widths. Straight, clean joins are not considered defects when required by film size or project conditions.

12. Curing and Drying Time

Window film is installed using a water-based solution. After installation, temporary haze, small water pockets, distortion or bubbles may be visible while moisture evaporates and adhesive strength builds. Cure time varies with film thickness, weather, humidity, glass type, sun exposure and ventilation. Some films may take several weeks or months to fully cure. These temporary effects are not defects during the curing period.

13. Cleaning, Care and Client Maintenance

Newly installed film should not be cleaned for at least 30 days unless otherwise advised. After curing, clean using mild soapy water, non-abrasive cloths, clean microfibre, chamois or soft squeegees. Do not use scrapers, abrasive pads, harsh chemicals, ammonia-based cleaners where not suitable, high pressure cleaning, stickers, suction cups, tapes, adhesive hooks, or anything that may damage the film surface or edges. Damage caused by improper cleaning or misuse is not covered by warranty.

14. Warranty

Ultra Tint provides a workmanship guarantee covering installation quality. Film product warranties are provided by the relevant manufacturer and are subject to their specific terms, product type, installation location, glass type and maintenance requirements. Warranty does not cover glass breakage, pre-existing defects, contamination caused by poor frames, misuse, improper cleaning, water leaks, building movement, third-party damage, client interference, or conditions outside the product warranty.

15. Existing Film Removal

Where old film removal is included, it is priced on normal removal conditions. Excessive adhesive, brittle film, failed film layers, difficult access, damaged glass, toughened glass pick-up or extended removal time may require a variation. Ultra Tint is not responsible for glass damage, scratches or defects that become visible during removal where they relate to the existing glass, previous installation or surface condition.

16. External Film, Specialty Film and Environmental Exposure

External, decorative, safety, privacy, blackout, low-e, smart, specialty and marine applications may carry specific product limitations, installation requirements and warranty conditions. Some products may require edge sealing, specific cleaning procedures, limited exposure conditions, or manufacturer approval. Product suitability will be assessed according to the intended use and available information.

17. Performance Expectations

Published performance values are based on manufacturer testing and typical conditions. Actual results may vary due to glass type, building orientation, frame system, shading, blinds, air movement, season, lighting conditions and user behaviour. Ultra Tint does not guarantee exact temperature reduction, glare reduction, energy saving, privacy level or visual appearance unless expressly stated in writing.

18. Delays and Scheduling

Ultra Tint will make reasonable efforts to complete work at the agreed time. Delays may occur due to weather, supplier availability, site readiness, access issues, safety requirements, illness, traffic, material delays or other events outside our reasonable control. We will communicate changes as promptly as practical.

19. Cancellation and Rescheduling

If the client cancels or reschedules after material has been ordered, film has been cut, staff have been allocated, or the installation date is close, Ultra Tint may recover reasonable costs, including material, labour allocation, lost booking time and administration. Custom, ordered-in, cut-to-size or specialty materials may not be refundable once ordered or prepared.

20. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Ultra Tint's liability is limited to the value of the work performed or the rectification of the affected work, at Ultra Tint's discretion. Ultra Tint is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, loss of business, loss of use, loss of profit, third-party costs, accommodation costs, delay costs, or damage caused by factors outside our control.

21. Client Supplied Products or Instructions

Where the client supplies product, specifications, drawings or instructions, the client is responsible for their accuracy, suitability and compliance. Ultra Tint may decline to install unsuitable or non-conforming products. If the client instructs us to proceed against advice, the client accepts responsibility for the outcome.

22. Insurance

Clients are encouraged to notify their insurer when window film is installed so that film replacement may be considered if glass is later broken accidentally. Insurance coverage varies between insurers and remains the client's responsibility.

23. Acceptance

Acceptance of a quotation, electronic approval, payment of deposit, written instruction, verbal instruction, or allowing installation to proceed confirms acceptance of these Terms & Conditions. These terms apply together with the quotation, invoice, warranty documentation and any written project notes provided by Ultra Tint.
